Family Support Services
If you are an Old Mutual Eswatini policyholder, you have free access to a number of benefits available through our Family Support Services.
- After a traumatic experience, survivors may need medical treatment and psychological assistance. Emergency assistance and appropriate treatment are provided following accidental exposure to HIV.
- This service includes:
- For accidental exposure to HIV, policyholders have access to telephonic trauma counselling, 3 psychiatric consultations (per incident), plus HIV tests.
- If the initial HIV test is negative, a 30 day starter pack of anti-retroviral medication will be provided. The morning-after pill (for women who have been raped), telephonic access to an HIV counselling centre for information, advice and support, plus rape trauma telephonic counselling are provided for 12 months (treatment costs excluded).
- If the initial HIV test is positive, counselling will be provided for 35 days a year. Three consultations with a specialist, plus the morning-after pill (in the case of women who have been raped) will be provided.
- Exposure to HIV must be reported within 72 hours of exposure to qualify for preventative medication.
- Access to health advisers who will provide general health information.
- Assistance in the selection of medical practitioners, hospital services and other medical care.
- Access to the Audio Health Library, with pre-recorded information.
- Access to clinical information, facts and general information from nurses.
- Transport of the deceased by road or air from anywhere in the world to the funeral home closest to the place of burial in Swaziland. Transportation of the deceased over short distances is also covered.
- Attention to the surviving family's special needs or cultural preferences.
- Assistance and advice on claims procedures under the policy for the family.
- Legal assistance in interpreting the Will and handling of documentation if necessary.
- Advice on the handling of required documents, e.g. obtaining a death certificate and cross-border documentation.
- Referral to a pathologist if an autopsy is necessary.
- Referral to reputable undertakers and providers of other funeral services.
- Assistance in finding a tombstone provider.
Every day we are faced with decisions regarding our health and/or the health of our family. In an emergency, we may not know what to do. Policyholders now have access to a telephone assistance service that deals with health queries.
Because arranging the funeral of a loved one is stressful our Funeral Plan includes funeral support. The Funeral Support service is available only for lives covered under our Funeral Plan.
